Excerpt from the novel Veethika had come here with her friend Bharti Dutt and was standing for a long time watching the rising Ganga. This is the last day of June. It is summer vacation. The campus is empty. Today is Veethika's last day as a professor in this campus. She has spent thirty-six continuous years here. Bharti's job is still pending. She has also been a student of this college. Veethika is no more. After doing Senior Cambridge, Veethika took admission in Patna College in the second year of Intermediate. She completed her MA from there in three years and from Darbhanga House of the University in two years. It was a matter of pride to be registered with Prof. Shivranjan Prasad as a research student. Prof. Shivranjan Prasad had come here from BHU. He was the founding head of the department. It was a good fortune to study from him, it was a matter of great fortune to do research under his tutelage.
